Apple 16Gb Apple iPod Touch

Continued from March 2nd blog post…
- Took it out of the box, connected the USB cable from the iPT to my MacBook and iTunes started up. The iPT is recognized right away, and a Register Product screen appears - and being the good Apple devotee, I registered this new gadget as well.
- Meanwhile, the iPT kicked in, recognizing our Apple wireless network, passwords from my MacBook, and proceeded to update its software online. After that, it synchronized my iTunes music library and playlists, Address Book, iCal, Safari settings, and my Apple Mail accounts.
- Once the sync was complete, I touched my Mail icon on the iPT and there were my four mail accounts up and running. I touched the Safari icon and went online immediately - all my Safari settings and bookmarks were there - a duplicate of my MacBook’s Safari program. In fact, my MacBook’s Mail, iCal, Address Book, iTunes, iPhoto, and iMovies were all duplicated onto the iPT.
- I have to admit, the most astonishing moment - as a computer user since the early ’80s - was that everything worked seamlessly, flawlessly, without one glitch, and I thanked the Apple gods again for bringing me to the Lightside (from the Darkside…) when Ellen started at Ridley in ‘99 and we had to buy a Mac.
- Apple really does Think Different.
- The thought that comes immediately to mind each time I look at this gadget is that you have to be a certain age to thoroughly appreciate the iPT’s technology. My teenagers have been raised, both at home and at school, with various electronic gadgets and computers, so to them, this is the everyday; nothing too special there. For the rest of us who grew up with manual typewriters, black and white TVs, etc., this iPod is truly a technological dream.
- Granted, I have more interest in computer technology than the average female (as my friend reminds me frequently) but for those of you out there of a certain age, you’ll (hopefully) understand what I mean when I write, “What will they think of next?“
